Les travaux de Juliana ont permis de d\u00e9montrer que l\u2019\u00e9volution de la structure des g\u00e8nes est dynamique chez les conif\u00e8res, et qu\u2019un grand nombre de duplications de g\u00e8nes chez la famille des d\u00e9hydrines s\u2019\u00e9taient produites au fil des dizaines de millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es depuis l\u2019origine des Pinaceae. De plus, elle a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que ces g\u00e8nes \u00e9taient reli\u00e9s de diff\u00e9rentes fa\u00e7ons \u00e0 l\u2019adaptation \u00e0 la s\u00e9cheresse. Ces r\u00e9sultats offrent de nombreuses pistes de recherche en ce qui concerne les bases g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques du d\u00e9veloppement et de l\u2019adaptation aux variations climatiques chez les conif\u00e8res, et pour la cartographie de la diversit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique de ces g\u00e8nes au niveau spatial. Le jury d\u2019\u00e9valuation \u00e9tait constitu\u00e9 de Jean Bousquet, directeur de recherche (Chaire de recherche du Canada en g\u00e9nomique foresti\u00e8res, Universit\u00e9 Laval), John Mackay, codirecteur de recherche (Department of Plant Sciences, Universit\u00e9 d\u2019Oxford), Marie Teresa Cervera, examinatrice externe (Instituto Nacional de Investigacion y Tecnologia Agraria d\u2019Espagne), Armand S\u00e9guin, examinateur externe (Centre de foresterie des Laurentides, Ressources Naturelles Canada), et Fran\u00e7ois Belzile, examinateur interne (Institut de biologie int\u00e9grative et des syst\u00e8mes, Universit\u00e9 Laval). La d\u00e9fense \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sid\u00e9e par Nancy G\u00e9linas, vice-doyenne aux \u00e9tudes de la Facult\u00e9 de foresterie, de g\u00e9ographie et de g\u00e9omatique.
